Company growth continued through the 1970s, and in the early 1980s sons James and Scott Erickson began managing the business. In 1985 they assumed ownership, and in 1987 expanded the company geographically to the Duluth area with another base of operation. By 1997 the company had grown in size and prominence to become a preferred contractor in the Duluth, northeast Minnesota and northwest Wisconsin areas. This same year Jim Erickson became president and sole owner of Max Gray Construction, Inc. In 2002 Jim Abrahamson was named Vice President of Construction and Bill Lowry became Vice President of Finances with both men becoming company shareholders.
The turn of the century brought over $20 million in work, a company milestone and compelling response to their straightforward method of doing business. The company continues to build a strong reputation in their region. According to owner Jim Erickson, "Our business exemplifies the highest standards of skill, integrity and responsibility in every project".
BUILDING TRUST
Our way of doing business is built into each project. Delivering a quality
project on time and within budget requires us to implement the following
standards.
Excellence
Every client. Every project. Every time. Our attitude of excellence pushes
us to meet or exceed expectations and sets the standard for how we conduct
business.
Experience
With decades of quality construction under our belt, our perspective goes
beyond design and construction to provide a streamlined, constructive
process and project.
Customer Service and Support
We build trust with each project since we serve our clients ethically and
responsibly. Our extensive track record reflects our strong
relationship-building efforts with a significant number of returning
clients. Customers appreciate our commitment to quality, budget and
schedule.
Collaboration
We know how to create and manage an efficient, cost effective team dedicated
to quality craftsmanship. We partner with all of the stakeholders on every
project to ensure a successful build.
Quality Assurance
We recognize that a detailed, well-thought-out quality assurance program
provides for a better finished product, and ours is second to none. We
measure the success of our program throughout the entire project, but
ultimately the client's level of satisfaction is the most significant
measure.
Safety
We make safety the normal way of doing business through training, monitoring
and motivation. Our employee and subcontractor "Safety Sessions" assure the
safety consciousness of our project personnel and make our experience rating
one of the best in the industry.
Project Diversity/Capacity
Comprehensive experience with a wide variety of commercial buildings means
we know how to meet strict regulatory standards, including ASHE
certification for medical/healthcare facilities. Project diversity sharpens
our creative skills and experience to effectively meet our client's needs.
Our capacity to handle projects ranging from $10,000-$15 million and beyond gives us the flexibility to serve a more diverse clientele. Our financial strength and bonding capability gives us the resources to handle almost any construction assignment in the region.
Innovation/Technology
Innovation and technology are tools we use in our business processes to
remain competitive. We constantly strive to improve our performance, and the
construction industry is an exciting area of new technologies and
methodologies that allow us to be efficient, effective and produce the
highest quality workmanship.
